Peter Kirstein CBE honoured with Fellowship by Marconi Society

The founder and acknowledged “father” of the Internet in Europe and ISOC UK England participant Professor Peter Kirstein CBE was honoured with a Symposium and Fellowship by the prestigious Marconi Society in London Tuesday 25th October at the Royal Society.

The Symposium produced by Peter Kirstein was on – “The Future Infrastructure of the Internet of Things”.  The gathering discussing the Internet of Things and paying tribute to Peter included many of the Internet and networking world’s leading luminaries including Vint Cerf, Bob Khan, Paul Baran, Dame Wendy Hall, and many others.… Read more ...

Society Ambassadors to the Internet Governance Forum (IGF). IGF
Ambassadors will gain valuable insight and experience through their
exposure to a range of stakeholders and discussions from numerous
disciplines across the Internet ecosystem and benefit from their
immersion into the IGF week of activities.

The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) serves to bring people together from
various stakeholder groups as equals, in discussions on public policy
issues relating to the Internet. While there is no negotiated outcome,
the IGF informs and inspires those with policy-making power in both the

The two-day NetMundial conference starts on Wednesday. Olivier Crepin-Leblond, & Desiree Miloshevic and several members are attending. Please make yourselves known to each other and post any comments or requests for input to our Policy list.

The agenda for the meeting can be found here and a draft outcome document can be viewed here. Comments can be provided (until tomorrow April 21st), and several organisations, such as ISOC, are submitting feedback. “Parliament meets Internet. Surveillance, the digital economy & the Open Internet.”

The ISOC UK England chapter held a debate in Parliament on 4th March in the Grimond Room Portcullis House, Parliament

Three senior politicians Conservative, Labour and Liberal and renowned experts in Internet Standards, Technologies, Policy and Institutional development debated the need for oversight and new approaches to managing surveillance of the Intenet for the UK in the mother of Parliaments at Westminster.

Dr. Tim Chown previewed the chapter’s new IPv6matrix.org website at the recent UKNOF meeting on 21st January in Manchester.
